Mill Road’s senior professionals have extensive operational as well as investment experience in both public and private companies.

Thomas Lynch, Senior Managing Director
Mr. Lynch has over two decades of investing, management consulting and operating experience. Prior to forming Mill Road Capital, Mr. Lynch was the founder and a managing director of Lazard Capital Partners, where he created the fund’s strategy, recruited the investment team and established one of the top performing 1997 private equity funds in the United States. Prior to Lazard, Mr. Lynch was a managing director at The Blackstone Group. Mr. Lynch came to Blackstone from the Monitor Company, a management-consulting firm founded by Michael Porter, where he worked with companies in the retail, chemicals, plastics, coatings and packaging industries. Mr. Lynch began his career as an advertising executive at the Interpublic Group of Companies. Mr. Lynch is a member of the Boards of Panera Bread Company (Nasdaq: PNRA) and Physicians Formula Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: FACE) and has served on numerous other public, private and not-for-profit boards.

Mr. Lynch has a B.A. with honors in Political Economy and Philosophy from Williams College, an M.Phil in Politics from Oxford University (where he graduated first in his class) and an M.B.A. from Stanford University.

Charles Goldman, Managing Director
Mr. Goldman has over 15 years of experience as a private equity investor and corporate executive. Prior to joining Mill Road Capital, Mr. Goldman was the executive vice president of acquisitions and development for Ascend Media, a company focused on acquiring and integrating business-to-business magazines, journals and tradeshows. During Mr. Goldman’s tenure with Ascend, the company grew to over $150 million in revenues and became one of the leading business-to-business media companies in the U.S. Prior to Ascend, Mr. Goldman was a principal at JPMorgan Partners (formerly known as Chase Capital Partners) where he worked on a broad range of transactions including leveraged buildups, buyouts and growth equity, primarily in middle-market companies. Mr. Goldman began his career in the investment banking division of Dillon Read. Mr. Goldman has served on multiple Boards of both public and private companies.

Mr. Goldman has a dual B.A. and B.S. magna cum laude from the College of Arts and Sciences and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.

Scott Scharfman, Managing Director
Mr. Scharfman has over two decades of experience as an investor, investment banker, and corporate executive. Prior to joining Mill Road Capital, Mr. Scharfman was the senior manager of the Equity Capital Markets Origination Group at Robertson Stephens. Mr. Scharfman has extensive experience trading equities as well as raising capital in IPOs, secondaries, and convertible offerings for companies in a wide variety of industries. Prior to Robertson, Mr. Scharfman was Chief Financial Officer of Mercata, Inc. Mercata was founded by Paul Allen, the co-founder of Microsoft. Prior to Mercata, Mr. Scharfman was a Senior Managing Director and head of the Equity Capital Markets Origination Group at Bear Stearns & Co. Before Bear Stearns, Mr. Scharfman was a senior manager with The Blackstone Group, investing Blackstone's funds in a variety of companies as well as advising clients on merger and acquisition strategy. Mr. Scharfman began his career in 1986 with The First Boston Corporation, now known as Credit Suisse. Mr. Scharfman was on the team that took First Boston private in 1988.

Mr. Scharfman has an A.B. from Princeton University, where he graduated cum laude and was elected to Sigma Xi, the science honorary society.

Justin Jacobs, Managing Director
Mr. Jacobs has more than a decade of experience as an investor and operator. Prior to joining Mill Road Capital, Mr. Jacobs worked at LiveWire Capital, an investment and management group focused on control, operationally-intensive buy-outs of small companies. Mr. Jacobs held operational positions in portfolio companies including interim Chief Operating Officer; he had responsibility in numerous functional areas including strategy, sales and marketing, acquisitions, customer relationships, information technology, finance, and accounting. Additionally, his responsibilities included all aspects of the investment process. Prior to joining LiveWire, Mr. Jacobs was an investment professional at The Blackstone Group. He worked on transactions in a range of industries including oil refining, utilities, dredging, cable and telecommunications and played a day-to-day role on investments that deployed approximately $450 million of equity capital.

Mr. Jacobs holds a B.S. with dual concentrations in finance and accounting from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia. He graduated Beta Gamma Sigma, the highest academic distinction in the undergraduate business program.

Eric Yanagi, Vice President
Mr. Yanagi joined Mill Road Capital in 2008. Previously, he worked at Nautic Partners, a middle-market private equity firm, and in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group at Credit Suisse.

Mr. Yanagi graduated cum laude from Princeton University with an A.B. in Economics.

Sarah Heberle, Associate
Ms. Heberle joined Mill Road Capital in 2010. Previously, she worked in the Advisory and Restructuring Groups at The Blackstone Group.

Ms. Heberle graduated summa cum laude from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Economics and Concentrations in Finance and Accounting. She was a Joseph Wharton Scholar.

David Sinsky, Associate
Mr. Sinsky joined Mill Road Capital in 2009. Previously he worked in the Middle Market Restructuring Group at Lazard.

Mr. Sinsky graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in Economics.

James Zivin, Associate
Mr. Zivin joined Mill Road Capital in 2008. Previously, he worked in the Global Healthcare Group at UBS Investment Bank.

Mr. Zivin graduated magna cum laude from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Economics.
